Cellcrypt is the leading provider of technology to secure mobile voice calls on everyday smartphones. Consumers, governments and corporate enterprises use its flagship product - Cellcrypt Mobile™ - worldwide.

Founded in 2005, Cellcrypt's R&D innovation resulted in Encrypted Mobile Content Protocol (EMCP), an Internet Protocol (IP) based technology that optimises delivery of encrypted data between mobile devices over wireless networks. EMCP solves the technical challenge of delivering reliable high-performance encryption of voice data over networks with low bandwidth and varying connectivity.

Cellcrypt technology operates over data-enabled networks including 2G (GPRS/EDGE), 3G (HSPA, CDMA/EV-DO), Wi-Fi® and satellite, and are optimised to run on Nokia® Symbian and BlackBerry® smartphones.

 

  

Key milestones in the history of Cellcrypt are:

  • 2005: Start of development of core encryption technology (EMCP)
  • 2008: Cellcrypt Mobile™ launched enabling secure smartphone-to-smartphone calls
  • 2009: Q1 world's first secure call from smartphone to landline
  • 2009: Q2 world's first secure call between BlackBerry smartphones
  • 2009: Q3 world's first low-latency secure satellite call using commercial off the shelf smartphones

Cellcrypt's encryption engine, developed by the company at its headquarters in London, UK, has been certified to FIPS 140-2 standard approved by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Cellcrypt has local partners worldwide that provide voice security consulting services including reselling and implementing Cellcrypt-based solutions. In addition Cellcrypt is proud to have several strategic alliances including RIM BlackBerry and Inmarsat:

  • Porton Capital: Over the last 10 years Porton Capital has grown into one of the UK's leading specialist venture capital firms, with specific focus on defence and security technology businesses. Formed by former UBS investment bankers, Porton Capital manages over $250M under a variety of investment funds.
  • Notion Capital: Notion Capital is a venture fund created by a proven team entrepreneurs who founded three market leading companies RBR Networks, Star Internet and MessageLabs. MessageLabs was later sold to Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC) for $695M.
