Cellcrypt addresses the significant technical challenge of delivering strong encryption across cellular networks whilst maintaining high performance voice call attributes such as fast call set up, high voice quality and low latency.
It does this by using Encrypted Mobile Content Protocol™ (EMCP) over the IP (internet Protocol) data channel and Cellcrypt’s Encrypted Content Delivery Network™ (ECDN), a global network of Internet-based servers for fast and reliable data delivery.
EMCP runs over IP and is a set of standards-based protocols for optimizing delivery of encrypted real-time content between mobile phones over low-bandwidth wireless networks. In summary, EMCP covers three areas:
Cellcrypt operates a global network of resilient and secure servers for routing secure calls and increasing performance of real-time data delivery beyond that which is normally available using only the Internet. Access to Cellcrypt’s Encrypted Content Delivery Network is included as part of the Cellcrypt Mobile software license.
ECDN also authenticates software licenses and sets up calls. The servers are protected using industry standard server security measures and, importantly, do not participate in the security of the call, either the trust relationship between callers or the encryption of the voice call data (which has end-to-end encryption). Even if any servers within Cellcrypt’s ECDN could be compromised, voice calls would remain confidential as they would be encrypted.
ECDN also includes a Management Console for issuing Cellcrypt Mobile licenses and provisioning the software, and a signaling server for setting up calls.
Organizations have the option to operate their own secure private voice network by deploying Cellcrypt’s Private Switch™, consisting of the Management Console and Signaling Server, within their own network infrastructure. The Private Switch enables organizations to manage and control a completely private set of devices, users and secure numbers.
